01 — Industrial strainers

Nine ways to keep solids out of your equipment

Strainers mechanically remove unwanted solids from liquid, gas or steam lines using a perforated or wire mesh element, protecting pumps, meters, control valves, steam traps and regulators downstream.

Large bore Y-type strainer in grey painted carbon steel with flanged inlet and outlet, bolted cover, blowdown valve and nameplate Y-Type

Y-Type Strainers

A cylindrical perforated or mesh-lined screen collects debris as flow passes through. Usable in horizontal or vertical (downward) pipelines. Large straining capacity, precision-machined seats and a standard blow-off drain connection with a plug on low-pressure models.

  • Sizes½″ – 60″
  • RatingANSI classes to 2500
  • BuildFabricated or cast
  • EndsFlanged, threaded, socket weld
  • FinishEpoxy painted (CI & CS)

Five large basket strainers in grey painted carbon steel with davit-assisted covers, hand wheel operation, lined bores and welded support legs, finished at the LKS Industries works Basket

Basket Strainers

Top removal of the screen, formed as a basket with a lifting handle so captured particulate lifts straight out for disposal. Intended where large amounts of solids are expected and clean-out will be frequent. A modified cone-bottom basket allows blow-down through the drain port without removing the screen or stopping flow.

  • Sizes3⁄8″ – 24″ and above
  • RatingANSI 125 – 600#
  • BodiesCI, DI, cast steel, SS, chrome-moly, bronze
  • CoversBolted, hinged, clamped, davit
  • ScreensPerforation, mesh or combination
Held in stock for prompt delivery
Duplex strainer with twin bodies and hand wheel changeover for uninterrupted filtration Duplex

Duplex Strainers

Two separate basket housings with a changeover handle between them, diverting flow to one side while the other is cleaned. Installed where flow simply cannot be stopped. On some units the valve operates automatically and the strainer self-cleans.

  • FiltrationTo 40 µm, depending on NB

Conical & Temporary Strainers

Known as temporary strainers, these are the cost-effective answer where the amount of material to be removed is small and intervals between cleanings are long. Widely used for testing and commissioning by new plants, then removed once the system runs clean.

T-Type Strainers

Also called bathtub strainers, used as fixed strainers in large bore lines of 2″ and above, flanged or welded into the network. A low-cost option for high nominal bore straining, with a screwed or quick-opening cover and low maintenance once installed.

  • Sizes2″ and above

Suction Diffusers

Mounts on the suction side of a pump, horizontally or vertically. Removes foreign matter that would damage the pump or downstream components while providing the proper flow conditions into the impeller. Where space is limited it doubles as an elbow — in some cases a reducing elbow — with the strainer built in.

Pair of automatic self-cleaning strainers with electric actuators and control panel, built by LKS Industries Automatic

Automatic Self-Cleaning Strainers

Uses the system's own pressure to clear clogged particles after a set period, letting clean fluid continue through while dirt is removed. A typical system carries fine and coarse screeners, a particle remover, piston, flush valves, a differential pressure gauge and a controller.

  • Particle range5 – 4,000 µm

02 — Industrial valves

Eleven valve families, four ways to actuate them

Hand wheel, gear, pneumatic and motorised operation across isolation, throttling, non-return and air-handling duties — specified to the media, not to whatever is on the shelf.

Batch of cast steel flanged globe and gate valves with rising stems and hand wheels, awaiting finishing at LKS Industries

Choosing between them

A gate valve gives a straight-through unobstructed passageway and minimal pressure loss, but should be used fully open or fully closed — not to regulate. A globe valve accepts more pressure drop in exchange for genuine throttling control. A ball or butterfly valve gives you a quarter turn and a small footprint.

Knife gate valves earn their place where the media is loaded with suspended solids, slurry, viscous, corrosive or abrasive. A sharpened blade cuts through heavy liquids, and an acid-proof stainless knife resists the corrosion that otherwise drives constant maintenance in wastewater service.

Tell us the media, the pressure and whether you need to throttle — that is usually enough for us to recommend the right family and rating.

Lever operated stainless steel ball valve with flanged ends

Ball Valves

Quarter-turn shut-off for liquids, gases and vapours. Lever parallel to the pipe means open, perpendicular means closed — unambiguous during a plant walk-round.

Lever, gear or pneumatic
Mild steel hand wheel operated gate valve with flanged ends

Gate Valves

Straight-through unobstructed bore with minimal pressure loss, wide enough to pass a pig during pipe cleaning. Use fully open or fully closed, never to regulate.

Hand wheel, gear or motorised
Gear operated knife gate valve with lug body for slurry service

Knife Edge Gate Valves

On-off isolation where the media carries suspended solids. A sharpened blade cuts through slurry, viscous, corrosive and abrasive liquids; an acid-proof stainless knife resists wastewater corrosion.

Hand wheel, gear, pneumatic or motorised
Gear operated globe valve for throttling service

Globe Valves

Start, stop and genuinely regulate flow. A movable disc against a fixed ring seat inside a cylindrical body, handling flow in both directions — the throttling choice where pressure drop is acceptable.

Hand wheel or gear
Gear operated lug type butterfly valve with epoxy coated ductile iron body

Butterfly Valves

Flanged double eccentric design. Compact, light, fast to actuate and inexpensive to automate thanks to low torque. Ductile iron body with epoxy powder coat inside and out.

Lever, gear or pneumatic
Cast iron swing type non return valve with flanged ends

NRV / Check Valves

Flow in one direction only, preventing reverse flow, protecting equipment and avoiding contamination. Driven by the media itself — no actuator, no control signal.

Swing, tilting disc, lift or ball
Cast iron foot valve with integral perforated strainer screen

Foot Valves

Spring-assisted check valve at the pump suction that keeps the pump primed and prevents dry running. The opening is sized larger than the line to minimise head loss.

With integral strainer screen
Vertical stainless steel air eliminators prepared for despatch

Air Eliminators

Trap and release air and non-condensable gases collecting at system high points. Fitted ahead of flow meters so air is never measured as product.

Cold water, pump suction, condensate
Double orifice air release valve with ductile iron body and flanged base

Double Acting Air Release Valves

Releases trapped air in operation and admits air during draining or vacuum conditions. Ductile iron body, stainless float and rubber seals; large orifice for bulk air, small for continuous release.

Water supply, irrigation, wastewater
DN400 square slide gate valves with electric actuators, manufactured by LKS Industries

Slide Gate Valves

For free-flowing dry bulk material at the outlet of bins, silos, hoppers, chutes and conveyors. A thick rectangular blade shuts off completely or holds a set opening to control discharge rate.

Pneumatic, manual or automatic
Lined diaphragm valve with hand wheel and flanged ends for hygienic and corrosive service

Diaphragm Valves

An elastomeric diaphragm flexing onto a seat. Minimal internal contact limits sediment and biofilm build-up, which is why they dominate food, pharmaceutical, water treatment and electronics service.

Hygienic and sediment-prone duty

Actuation is specified to your control philosophy and torque requirement — hand wheel, gear, pneumatic or electric, with limit switches and position indication where needed. Not every size and material combination is shown; tell us the media, the pressure and whether you need to throttle, and we will recommend the family, body material and actuation.

Core product line

Air Release Valves

One of the lines we build most of, and build entirely ourselves — shell, cowl, float chamber and flange, fabricated and finished in stainless on our own floor.

Air trapped at a system high point does three things, all of them expensive: it throttles flow, it makes a flow meter read product that is not there, and under vacuum it can collapse a pipeline. An air release valve deals with all three automatically, with no control signal and nothing to actuate.

  • Stainless steel construction — shell, cover and internals in SS 304 or 316, for corrosive, hygienic and coastal service where a cast iron body will not last.
  • Perforated intake cowl keeping debris and insects out of the orifice while air moves freely both ways.
  • Flanged base drilled to your standard, with a side outlet where the layout needs one.
  • Built in batches to one specification, so a twenty-unit order arrives identical rather than nearly identical.

04 — Pipe spools & skids

Move the welding off your site and into our shop

Prefabrication compresses your site programme, removes weather risk from critical welds and puts every joint in front of a qualified welder in controlled conditions.

Pipe Spools

Pre-engineered, prefabricated assemblies combining pipes, fittings, flanges and components into fully welded, installation-ready sections, fabricated to detailed isometric drawings and strict dimensional standards.

  • Minimises fieldwork and accelerates installation timelines.
  • All welding performed in certified facilities by qualified personnel.
  • Avoids delays from material shortages or adverse site conditions.
  • Reduces field welding, cutting error risk and improving site safety.
  • Every spool inspected — RT, hydrostatic testing, PMI and NDT.

Materials: stainless steel 304 and 316, carbon steel ASTM A106 / A105, duplex and super duplex, Alloy 20, Incoloy and Inconel — whether the application is corrosive, high pressure or high temperature.

Skid Packages

Fully integrated modular units combining process equipment, piping, valves, instrumentation and controls on a single structural frame. Pre-assembled, pre-tested and delivered ready to install, which cuts site fabrication time and brings commissioning forward.

  • Pump skids — packaged pumping sets on a common base.
  • Filtration skids — strainers and filters piped and instrumented.
  • Chemical injection skids — dosing packages with control.
  • Heat exchanger skids — exchanger, piping and controls integrated.
  • Utility & process skids — built to your flow rates and footprint.

Factory acceptance testing covers hydrostatic testing, electrical checks and instrumentation calibration before anything leaves the works. Skids are transportable and expandable as project needs change.
